Wedding portraits from 2017 have been some of my absolute favorite things to look back on this year. From weddings big to small, the dresses, flowers, and mens’ suits were all on point. It’s not just about telling the story of the day, but the individual personality of the bride and groom.

The bride dresses this year were all really beautiful and different. There’s been a trend back towards strapslace, but still a lot of the strapless styles. Monica’s and Ever After supply many of our bride’s dresses. They always do an amazing job of helping the brides find their perfect dress. I also love the way the flowers are coordinated with the dresses and suits. Mayflowers is one of our favorite flower vendors, and they’ve been spot with all the weddings we’ve seen.

It’s interesting to see the bride’s style also come out in what she wants for her bridesmaids. There are a lot of fun and creative options for the bridesmaids. Blue was a huge color this year – the darker shades seen in Alicia’s wedding to the more gray blues of Emily’s.

One big thing that has changed is that brides are rarely doing separate bridal portraits on a different day. Now we are able to do bridal portraits on the wedding day, usually right before the bridesmaids shots. Being able to capture those intimate moments with the bride in her dress and veil before the ceremony is always special.

The guys were all top notch, too.  Grooms are paying more attention to their own style and that of their groomsmen. Giorgio has been around in Chattanooga forever, and they continue to put out some of the best styles. It’s not just the suit, but also the hair styles and beards getting attention these days.

Overall, these portraits are some of our favorite.  They reflect just a small portion of what we were able to capture this year. Photographing these intimate moments of the bride and groom as they begin their new chapter in their life is a true honor.  We can’t wait to see what styles are in store for 2018!
